is located in northeast Ohio on the southern shore of Lake Erie, approximately 60 miles west of the Pennsylvania border. It is part of the Great Lakes Region, the country’s largest fresh water source.

Cleveland was founded in 1796 near the mouth of the Cuyahoga River and served as a manufacturing center due to its location at the head of numerous canals and railroad lines. Cleveland is now noted for its health care institutions, art venues, research and technology initiatives, and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

This Forbes article highlights the best that Cleveland has to offer.

Just nine miles from Ursuline, University Circle is an urban oasis with more than 20 artistic and cultural institutions, including:

    Cleveland Metroparks

The Cleveland Metroparks, or the "Emerald Necklace," is a ring of eight reservations spanning more than 23,000 acres with more than 300 miles of trails, golf courses, lakefront parks, and a nationally-acclaimed zoo. The Acacia Reservation and South Chagrin Reservation are both a short drive from campus and great places to enjoy a walk or run, cookout, polo match, and more.

    Downtown Cleveland

Not only is downtown Cleveland home to the city's professional sports teams - GuardiansBrowns , and Cavaliers - but it is also a cultural hub for theater, dining, and nightlife. Playhouse Square is the second-largest theatre district behind Broadway. Nearby, East 4th Street is a pedestrian-only street, featuring concert and comedy venues and world-class dining options, including James Beard award-winning restaurants. Each March, you'll also find the Cleveland International Film Festival in the heart of Public Square at Tower City Center.

    Cleveland's East Side

    • Coventry is a trendy area just off Cedar Road about seven miles from campus. Students enjoy visiting the Grog Shop music venue for many popular musicians, Tommy’s Restaurant with vegetarian selections and the best milkshakes in town, Coventry Park, and many other restaurants and shops.
    • Pinecrest is the east side of Cleveland's newest mixed-use district, offering shopping, dining, and entertainment.
    • Beachwood PlaceLegacy Village and La Place Center: These three malls - one indoor and two outdoor – are all about five minutes from campus.
    • Chagrin Falls is a quaint downtown area near campus, where visitors can view the waterfalls, enjoy Jeni's ice cream, or sit down and eat lunch or dinner at Yours Truly, a family-run diner. There are also spas, salons, and clothing and gift shops. Every year, Chagrin Falls hosts the Blossom Time Balloon Festival, a magnificent display of hot air balloons.

    Cleveland's West Side

    • The West Side Market is a must-see Cleveland institution dating back to 1840. Located in Ohio City, it's home to over 100 vendors selling meats, seafood, cheeses, vegetables, baked goods, flowers, and more.
